Company History
More than 30 years ago, when manufacturers of wire-management control
systems were taking a cookie-cutter commodity approach to the industry,
WireWay blazed a very different path. We earned U.S. patents for products
with a unique, engineered design built around modular construction. But
the company's roots go back further still, the the 1940's, when inventor
Irv Weiss, a Cleveland electrical engineer, began tinkering with panel
designs. Initially working with fiberglass, WireWay's founder continued
to innovate, later choosing plastic for its superior qualities. He first
filed patent applications for his design in September 1960, when Dwight
Eisenhower still occupied the oval Office.
His pursuit of technology-based solutions eventually won decades-long
following among equally particular custom-panel builders around the country,
who have always sought to distinguish themselves by using superior products.
Thus, many still specify WireWay products as their first choice in solving
complicated wiring schemes simply and effectively, at a lower cost.
Over the years, our lightweight extrusion-molded products have won wide
market acceptance. They have been specified for installation in everything
from automotive plants to two-person shops which produce custom control
panels. WireWay panels have also become fixtures in such diverse environments
as chemical and water-treatment plants, railroad signalling systems, even
the motion picture industry. In fact, our products can be found throughout
the world, in electrical or communications wiring installations where
flexibility and low-cost are primary considerations.
